Bio
Kyle Fang (b. 1997, Zhongshan, China) is a photographer and artist based in Vancouver, BC—on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
His artistic vision and philosophy align with the rich traditions of documentary-style photography, capturing the essence of everyday life through observations of people and places. His work seeks to depict a portrait of the contemporary social landscape of his time, as did his prominent influences in the works of Henry Wessel and Garry Winogrand.
Fang commits to the meticulous processes of film photography, processing his own black-and-white film and creating prints in the darkroom. While he works predominantly with black and white, he reserves the use of color for when his approach calls for it.
